Please take a moment to read our terms and conditions. By booking you acknowledge that you have read our terms and conditions and agree with them. Please help us protect the intertidal environment and keep you safe by adhering to these rules.

TIDE POOL RULES

  1. A guide will assist you and ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience.

  2. Please, arrive 15 minutes early to the meeting point that will be sent to you upon booking. Early arrival maximizes your time and experience.

  3. If you are late, your guide will wait for you.  The return will be done according to schedule.

  4. Tide pool experiences depend on the tide, weather and sea conditions. The start time and meeting point will be finalized after booking. The hours you see on the website are only a reference.

  5. You are responsible for travel to and from the meeting spot.

  6. Turning Tides ME will not be responsible for the loss or damage of any items or valuables brought on the trip by customers.

  7. Because of the nature of the tide pooling, we will be walking across slippery rocks in close proximity to ocean wave action. By booking any of our activities, you are confirming that you are physically able and comfortable to do these things and you assume all associated risks.

  8. You must wear closed-toed shoes while tide pooling to prevent slips and falls. You will maximize your experience by wearing tall, waterproof boots or water shoes and shorts.

  9. All customers are required to sign a waiver before tide pooling with Turning Tides ME (view here).

RESERVATIONS

  1. All reservations must be booked in advance. You may book a minimum of 24 hours in advance.

  2. All payment must be made in advance.

  3. Upon receipt of payment, you will receive a booking confirmation email.

  4. We accept reservations by our website, phone or email.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUND POLICY

  1. We reserve the right to cancel any scheduled activity due to unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather, even at short notice.

  2. If we cancel the activity due to unforeseen circumstances there will be a full refund and the cancellation fee does not apply. There will be an option to reschedule.

  3. All cancellations by customers must occur within a minimum of 24 hours of the booking start time. In this case your payment will be refunded.

  4. No refunds will be issued in the event of a no show or cancellation within 24 hours of the booking start time.

  5. If the weather turns bad unexpectedly and the guide decides to cut the trip short, a partial refund may be given.

SAFETY AND CONDUCT

  1. It is required that all customers behave in a safe and respectful manner to all staff, other customers and the intertidal zone.

  2. Customers must follow the guide’s instructions during the full time that the activity takes place.

  3. The guide reserves the right to cancel a trip and return if unruly or unsafe behavior is displayed. In such an event, no refunds will be made.

  4. We welcome children of all ages. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

  5. Pets are not allowed to join you in tide pooling per the policies of many of our tide pooling areas. In the event that you arrive with a pet, the trip will be cancelled and no refunds will be issued.

COMMUNITY TIDE POOLING EVENTS

  1. All policies for Community Tide Pooling events are the same as described above, except as outlined below.

  2. If you are late, your guides cannot have the whole group wait for you. You will have to contact the guide via email and meet the group at the tide pooling site rather than the meeting point.

  3. CANCELLATION POLICY: You may only cancel your Community Tide Pooling reservation for a full refund up to a week in advance. Any cancellations made within a week of the event will not be refunded, as it does not allow us sufficient time to fill the limited slots we can offer.

  4. Children 12 years and under cannot join Community Tide Pooling events due to the greater tide pooler to guide ratio. Children 12 year and under are welcome for smaller private bookings.

  5. Community tide pooling is rain or shine. In the event of truly dangerous weather conditions, the guide will cancel the trip and a full refund will be issued. These events cannot be rescheduled.
