Seaweed Pressing

Celebrate Seaweed Week with us by joining Turning Tides and TideMinded for seaweed pressing at Botanically Curious. Participants will be able to create their own stunning seaweed pressings, which will be dried and available for pickup a week after. Botanically Curious’ incredible selection of herbalist-formulated teas (including some with Maine seaweed!) will also be provided.

(Yoga) Between the Tides

Join Turning Tides for tide pooling and beach yoga in partnership with Chris Byrne, a Maine-based yoga teacher offering accessible, trauma-informed practices rooted in breath, mindfulness, and community. Time will be split evenly, with the first half of the event dedicated to grounding ourselves in a yoga class led by Chris and the second half dedicated to connecting with the ocean and the critters that live in it. Yoga mats will be available to borrow.

Rubbish! Beach Cleanup

Kick off ocean month by showing some love to our shoreline. Turning Tides is sponsoring a Morning Edition beach clean-up through Rubbish!, a non-profit project empowering communities to remove trash from their watersheds. The first hour will be spent cleaning up Biddeford Pool’s beaches. The second hour will focus on community building, with a coffee and tea bar provided and raffle.


Ebb & Flow Coastal Retreat

Join Kaneel and Turning Tides this summer for a unique retreat where mindfulness meets marine biology. Ebb & Flow is an invitation to pause, engage your sense of curiosity and play, and connect with the rhythmic cycles of the tides. This day-long retreat invites you to move beyond the typical beach getaway and intentionally learn about the beach itself. Throughout the day, we will explore the coast through a series of immersive mindfulness practices, including meditation, ocean dipping, mindful beachcombing, a gourmet lunch featuring sustainable seafood, and guided tide pooling.

Are you saltwater savvy? Join Turning Tides and TideMinded for ocean trivia at Elements: Books Coffee Beer to benefit Saltwater Classroom. A percentage of sales from the evening will be donated to Saltwater Classroom, so the more you snack and sip, the more will be raised for this organization’s mission to foster an ethic of ocean stewardship. Winners will receive a small prize, including tickets to a Community Tide Pooling Event.
